Q & A with the 2026 Incoming Philly PRSA President Scott Sauer, Jr.

Scott Sauer, Jr., longtime PRSA Philly member and board member, is an Account Executive at Jacobson Strategic Communications.

Was it a natural progression to become president of PRSA Philly?
Yes, my path with PRSA Philly really grew organically. I served as Programming Chair for two years, where I focused on creating engaging, high-quality programs for our members, and then as Vice President, which gave me the opportunity to collaborate closely with all of our committees. Those experiences helped me understand the different components of our chapter and prepared me to step into the president role.

What’s your vision for PRSA Philly this year? What goals do you most want to accomplish?
My vision for PRSA Philly in 2026 centers around continuing to grow our community while creating meaningful opportunities for members to connect, learn, and stay engaged. At the same time, we are focused on elevating the incredible work our members are doing, spotlighting their achievements, expertise, and leadership across our communications channels and events. And ultimately, we aim to strengthen PRSA Philly’s role as a trusted resource for best practices, professional development, and ethical standards in public relations.

What drives you daily in your work as PRSA Philly president?
I want PRSA Philly to be a place where communications professionals can find the development, connection, and support they are looking for at every stage of their career. The chapter has played a huge role in my own professional growth, and I’m motivated to help ensure it continues to be that same resource and community for others.

Why did you become a member of PRSA? Why PRSA Philly specifically?
I initially joined PRSA for the learning opportunities and the chance to connect with other professionals in the industry. PRSA Philly stood out for its strong programming and active community, which made it a great fit for me early in my career and continues to be today.

What are some of the biggest challenges our sector is facing, and how does PRSA Philly help practitioners navigate them?
One of the biggest challenges many professionals are facing right now is securing their next opportunity in a competitive job market. PRSA Philly supports members through resources such as our weekly Job Bank, which curates communications roles across the region for all experience levels, as well as through networking events, mentorship opportunities, and professional development programming.

What are your hobbies?
I enjoy smoking food on my Traeger. It’s fun to experiment with new recipes. I am also a big Phillies fan and a longtime season ticket holder.

What’s a fun fact about you?
This past November, I was a handler for the Good Morning America mascot balloon in the Thanksgiving Day Parade!
